Kettlebell Deck Squat

A goblet squat that sits all the way down to the floor, rolls back onto the upper back, then rolls forward and stands straight up out of the squat.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet shoulder-width, a kettlebell held by the horns at the chest, a mat behind.

Steps

  1. Squat down, sit on the floor and roll back onto the upper back, the bell hugged to the chest.
  2. Roll forward with the momentum, feet planting flat under the hips.
  3. Drive up out of the squat to standing.

Common mistakes

Rolling onto the neck: tuck the chin and stop on the upper back. Landing the roll with the feet too far forward: plant them under the hips to stand. Letting the bell drift off the chest: keep it hugged close.

Breathing

Inhale rolling back, exhale standing up.
