Dumbbell Reverse Push-Up

The reverse push-up on dumbbells set by the lower ribs, knuckles toward the feet; the elbows travel straight back.

How to do it

Setup

High plank, dumbbells under the lower ribs with the handles across, gripped with the knuckles toward the feet.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest between the bells, elbows sliding straight back along the ribs.
  2. Keep the body in one line from head to heels.
  3. Press back up to straight arms.

Common mistakes

Bells set level with the shoulders: move them back under the lower ribs so the elbows bend straight back. Bells rolling as you press: squeeze the handles and push straight down into them. Hips sagging as you lower: brace the trunk and squeeze the glutes.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
