Dumbbell Reverse Hyperextension on Bench

The reverse hyperextension on a flat bench with a dumbbell squeezed between the feet for load.

How to do it

Setup

Face down on a flat bench with the hips at its end, hands gripping the bench, a dumbbell held between the feet.

Steps

  1. Lift the legs and the bell until the legs are level with the bench.
  2. Squeeze the feet together so the bell cannot slip.
  3. Lower slowly until the toes near the floor.

Common mistakes

Bell slipping from the feet: start light and keep the feet pressed together. Lifting above the bench line: the lower back arches; stop level. Swinging the legs: slow up, slower down.

Breathing

Exhale as the legs rise, inhale on the way down.
