Corpse Pose
Lying flat on the back with the arms and legs a little apart, the whole body let go and still; a rest pose held for time.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the back, legs straight and a little apart, arms by the sides, palms up.
Steps
- Let the feet fall open and the shoulders settle toward the floor.
- Release the face, the jaw and the hands, and lie still.
- To come out, roll onto one side and sit up slowly.
Common mistakes
Lower back arching off the floor: rest the knees on a rolled blanket. Fidgeting to get comfortable: settle once, then stay still. Sitting straight up at the end: roll onto the side first, then rise slowly.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
