Cable Shoulder Internal Rotation

The standing cable internal rotation: side-on to a pulley set at elbow height, the hand travels in to the belly as the upper arm rotates.

How to do it

Setup

Standing side-on to a cable at elbow height, the handle in the near hand, elbow bent 90° at the side, forearm pointing out.

Steps

  1. Rotate the forearm in until the handle touches the belly.
  2. Keep the elbow at the ribs and the wrist straight.
  3. Return the handle out slowly against the cable.

Common mistakes

Swinging the torso to move the handle: stand square; only the arm rotates. Elbow leaving the side: tuck it and keep it there. Too heavy a stack: the cuff works best with a light, smooth load.

Breathing

Exhale turning in, inhale returning.
