Cable Reverse Crunch

The reverse crunch against a low cable strapped to the ankles; the stack pulls the knees away as the pelvis curls toward the ribs.

How to do it

Setup

On your back, feet toward a low pulley, the ankle strap on, knees bent over the hips, hands at the sides or on a support behind the head.

Steps

  1. Curl the hips off the floor, drawing the knees to the chest.
  2. Keep the knee angle fixed; the pelvis does the work.
  3. Lower the hips slowly until the cable is taut again.

Common mistakes

Kicking the legs out and in: the knees stay bent; the pelvis curls. Letting the stack drag the legs down: control the lowering. Lying too close to the pulley: shuffle away until the cable pulls at the bottom.

Breathing

Exhale curling up, inhale lowering.
