Cable Lying Triceps Extension
The lying extension on a bench with a low pulley behind the head; the cable keeps pulling at lockout, where a barbell goes light.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on a bench, head toward a low pulley, the bar held over the chest, arms straight.
Steps
- Bend the elbows to lower the bar toward the forehead.
- Keep the upper arms angled slightly back and still.
- Extend to straight arms against the cable.
Common mistakes
Upper arms swinging toward the hips: the cable drags them back; hold their angle. Elbows flaring wide: keep them narrow. Bench too close to the stack: slide it away so the cable pulls from behind the head.
Breathing
Inhale lowering, exhale extending.
