Butt Walking

Seated on the floor with the legs straight, walk forward on the sit bones by hitching one hip at a time, the chest tall.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall on the floor, legs straight and together, hands clasped in front of the chest.

Steps

  1. Hitch one hip up and move that side of the pelvis forward.
  2. Repeat with the other side, so the body inches ahead.
  3. Walk forward, then walk back the same way.

Common mistakes

Leaning back to shuffle: sit tall over the sit bones. Pulling with the heels: the legs stay relaxed; the hips do the walking. Swinging the arms for momentum: keep the hands at the chest.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
