Bodyweight Slow to Explosive Squat
A bodyweight squat lowered slowly and driven up fast, heels on the floor; the slow way down and the burst up train control and power in one rep.
How to do it
Setup
Feet shoulder-width, toes slightly out, arms reaching forward.
Steps
- Lower slowly to the bottom of the squat.
- Pause for a beat without relaxing.
- Drive up explosively, heels staying down.
Common mistakes
Rushing the way down: count it slow every rep. Jumping off the floor at the top: it is a fast stand, not a jump. Knees caving on the fast drive: push them out over the toes.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale as you drive up.
