Band Pushdown
The pushdown against a looped band anchored overhead; the band pulls hardest at the bottom, where the triceps lock out.
How to do it
Setup
Band looped over a high anchor, hands in the loop, elbows pinned to the sides.
Steps
- Press the hands down until the arms are straight.
- Hold the lockout a beat against the band's pull.
- Let the hands rise to about chest height, elbows still.
Common mistakes
Elbows riding forward as the band stretches: pin them to the ribs. Anchor too close: step back until the band is taut at the top. Letting the band snap the hands up: control the return.
Breathing
Exhale pressing down, inhale returning.
