Push-Up Close-Grip off Dumbbell

The close-grip push-up with both hands stacked on one dumbbell stood upright on its end.

How to do it

Setup

Plank position, one dumbbell stood upright under the chest, both hands on its top plate, feet together.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest toward the dumbbell, elbows close to the ribs.
  2. Press straight down through the plate as you push back up.
  3. Lock the arms out with the body still in one line.

Common mistakes

Pushing the dumbbell forward as you press: drive straight down so it cannot tip. Setting it on a slippery floor: stand it on a flat, grippy surface. Elbows flaring: keep them along the ribs.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
