Kettlebell Snatch

In one hip-driven motion swing the bell from between the legs and punch it through to a straight-arm lockout overhead.

Kettlebell Snatch, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Bell between the feet, hinge, flat back, one-hand grip.

Steps

  1. Hike and drive the hips hard.
  2. Guide the bell close and PUNCH the hand through at the top.
  3. Lock out overhead; lower in one smooth arc or two stages.

Common mistakes

Late punch: the bell flips and slaps the forearm; punch THROUGH before it lands. Wide arc: close to the body, always. Grip crushing the handle: loose in the swing, firm at the top.

Breathing

Inhale on the hike, sharp exhale at the lockout.
