Dumbbell High Pull

Two dumbbells pulled from the floor to chest height in one accelerating move, the elbows leading high and out.

How to do it

Setup

Dumbbells on the floor in front of the shins, hips back, back flat, arms long.

Steps

  1. Stand up with the bells, driving through the whole foot.
  2. Snap the hips and keep pulling, elbows high above the wrists.
  3. Stop at chest height, then lower the bells to the thighs and the floor.

Common mistakes

Pulling with the arms before the hips open: the legs and hips start it. Wrists rising above the elbows: the elbows lead the whole way. Rounding the back to reach the floor: hinge with a flat back, or start from the knees.

Breathing

Breath at the floor, exhale at the top.
