Dumbbell Close-Grip Press
The dumbbell bench press with the bells held together, palms facing, elbows tucked; pressing them as one shifts the work to the triceps.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on a bench, bells touching over the chest in a neutral grip, elbows close to the body.
Steps
- Lower the bells together to the lower chest, elbows brushing the ribs.
- Keep them touching the whole way.
- Press the bells back up as one.
Common mistakes
Bells drifting apart: squeeze them together throughout. Elbows flaring: keep them along the ribs. Bells landing on the upper chest: bring them to the lower chest.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale pressing.
