Barbell Reverse-Grip Incline Bench Press
The incline bench press with an underhand grip about shoulder-width; the elbows travel close to the body.
How to do it
Setup
Bench at 30–45°, palms toward the face, grip about shoulder-width, thumbs wrapped.
Steps
- Get a lift-off to straight arms over the upper chest.
- Lower to the top of the chest, elbows close to the ribs.
- Press the bar straight up over the collarbones.
Common mistakes
A thumbless grip: nothing stops the bar rolling toward the face; close the hand around it. Elbows flaring on the way down: keep them tucked. Bar sliding toward the belly: on an incline it lands high on the chest.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale on the press.
